Pay To Board First (Almost) On Southwest
| September 2nd, 2009 No commentsOne of the things I appreciate about Southwest Airlines is its egalitarian spirit, which is not coincidentally one of the things I like best about the United States in general.
Yes, we may be crammed into a 737 without much more sustenance than a bag of peanuts but the price is right, the attitude is cheerful, the flights tend to be on time and we’re all in it together because there’s no first class. Hell, there aren’t even assigned seats. This is not always entirely pleasant, but it’s usually fair.

I’ll tell you where to go … FLORIDA
| May 12th, 2007 No commentsSouthwest has a systemwide sale right now with some pretty sweet fares to Florida. It comes out to $138 round trip between Bradley and Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa or West Palm Beach during June. That’s with all the taxes and fees.

FYI, I’ve Been FWI
| April 25th, 2007 No commentsI was delighted to read that there’s a move afoot to require flight attendants to get alcohol server training. I figured there was some kind of airline policy against giving out free drinks in coach on domestic flights. Could it be that the flight attendants just have to learn how?
