Southwest is offering one of its periodic sales, with one-way fares starting at $59. As Southwest sales go, this is good but not great. The real barn-burners start at $39, although it’s been a while since I’ve seen one of those.
Here’s the deal: book by July 25 for travel August 26, 2013 through February 12, 2014, Fridays, Sundays and some blackout dates excluded. Here are the fares from Hartford:
- Baltimore/Washington, MD: $59
- Chicago (Midway), IL: $171
- Denver, CO: $199
- Ft. Lauderdale, FL: $97
- Ft. Myers, FL: $163
- Las Vegas, NV: $199
- Orlando, FL: $108
- Tampa, FL: $172
It’s a bit strange that the Las Vegas sale fare, for example, is nearly twice competing airlines’ lowest fares on some dates — and some of Southwest’s own Web Only fares. But overall there are some reasonable fares here, and they’re probably worth checking out if you’re planning some travel in Southwest markets during that time.
No fees for two checked bags and no change fees, as usual.
