Flying To Nearby Cities To Save On Airfare

I was just looking at the Deal Finder page on FareCompare and I noticed that the lowest airfare from Bradley to Seattle was listed at $346 while the lowest fare to Vancouver was $690.

If you want to go to Vancouver, the solution is pretty simple: fly to Seattle and take the train across the border to Vancouver. It’s a pretty ride and it costs only $35. I’ve done that a couple of times.

Likewise, I never fly to Tucson. I always fly to Phoenix and drive a couple of hours down the road to Tucson because Phoenix is almost invariably the less expensive destination.

Fort Lauderdale is usually cheaper than Miami, and it’s only 50 miles away.  In central Florida, Orlando is often cheaper than Tampa or Gainesville.

Do you ever fly to alternate cities to save on airfare?
