• More Turbulence Or Less Avoidance?

Are commercial jets running into turbulence more often because financially troubled airlines don’t want pilots to spend the time and the fuel to fly around bad weather?

This question has arisen on blogs and message boards where pilots argue with each other and talk about the news. The suggestion is that pilots are feeling pressure to keep on course, minimizing deviations for weather, to reduce costs.

Another suggestion is that pilots aren’t flying any differently but there’s more turbulence out there because of global warming. Or maybe there has not been more turbulence, just more reporting on it.
