Interest is growing in the European idea of micro-hotels with rooms just a fraction of the size of standard U.S. hotel rooms, according to the Associated Press.
The story focused on New York’s Jane Hotel, where single rooms measures 56 square feet, compared to a U.S. average of about 325 square feet.
I think I could handle it. I’ve shared a small sleeper car with three other train passengers and a 135-square-foot cruise ship cabin with my husband. The cabin included a bathroom, which the tiny rooms at The Jane don’t have.
It’s all about the storage. It has to be smart, sleek and floor-to-ceiling so you can get your stuff out of the way before you squeeze into the room.
