Airfares Down, Cruise Fares Up … I Think

Right after I suggested that airfares probably wouldn’t get much lower, they got a little lower, at least in some markets, the Associated Press reports.

I believe that’s mainly a sign that the decline in demand was sharper than airlines expected, and that they will continue to cut capacity until they can raise fares again.

Over at USA Today’s Cruise Log, Gene Sloan talked to some experts who agree that cruise prices won’t go much lower and may be starting to rise. So maybe I’ll be right about something.

Meanwhile, Joe Brancatelli at advises us to get out there and book that vacation already. He has 10 suggested destinations where deals abound.
