Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary insists he really meant it about charging passengers to use the lavatory on flights and says he’s asked Boeing to design 737s with doors requiring a credit-card swipe for entry.
At first everybody, apparently including at least some members of his own staff, thought he was joking about this. Maybe he was, and still is.
But assuming he’s not, it’s time for the traveling public to figure out how we’ll deal with this. I’m hoping we could just refuse to fly an airline that would treat us like that, but I’m not optimistic.
So wouldn’t we all take a collection as we board to raise the required fee, get one person to swipe the door and leave it jammed open when unoccupied for the rest of the flight?
