A U.S. Airways Airbus A320 has ditched in the Hudson River. There were reports of survivors standing on the wings, and the Associated Press reports that rescue workers are pulling passengers onto boats as the aircraft slowly sinks.
The New York Times’ City Room Blog attributes to Channel 4 news a report that the plane took off from LaGuardia Airport for Charlotte, N.C. with 146 passengers and 5 crew members on board, and that it may have hit a flock of birds.
A passenger on that flight is telling Wolf Blitzer on CNN that he thinks everyone got off the plane. Let’s hope for a miraculous ending.
