Passenger Duct-Taped To Seat

I have one question about this incident where passengers helped subdue an unruly man on a United Airlines flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles and duct-taped him to his seat.

Where did the duct tape come from?

I usually carry a small roll of travel duct tape for emergency repairs to (so far) torn window screens, ripped jeans, busted luggage and broken eyeglasses. But it’s not always in my carry-on. And even if it were I don’t think there’s enough to thoroughly tape a guy to his seat.

Maybe a number of passengers pitched in with their travel duct tape. Or maybe United carries duct tape on all its jets. In retrospect, it seems like a good idea.
