It’s time for the annual migration of rental cars, which means you can rent a car for as little as $5 a day if you pick it up in Florida and drive it to almost anywhere else.
The car rental companies want to move their fleets northward for the summer, hence the deals. There’s usually a one- or two-week maximum on the rentals, and the prices don’t include taxes, insurance or – more significantly – gas.
Here are links to and brief descriptions of some of the one-way deals you can get right now.
Hertz Rent a car at any of seven major Florida airports and drive it to any of more than 60 locations (including Hartford) for as little as $5 a day or $20 a week. Offer valid through June 30.
Avis Rent a car at just about any Florida location and drive it to anywhere outside Florida, California, Nevada and Arizona for as little as $5 a day through June 30. Convertibles and SUVs are $17 a day.
Budget Pretty much the same deal as Avis.
Alamo Rates start at $12 a day and $60 a week from about 20 Florida locations to a variety of destinations nationwide. Rates include a GPS unit. Car must be picked up by June 14.
National Pretty much the same as Alamo, though weekly rates start slightly higher, at $65.
