Delta Air Lines is grounding planes for inspection to meet an FAA deadline, following a similar move by American.
Delta announced that it’s inspecting 117 MD-88 and MD-90 jets. It’s not clear yet how this will affect Delta’s flight schedule. When American grounded 80 MD-80s yesterday, it ended up canceling 300 flights – about 10 percent of its schedule.
According to flighstats.com, Delta’s 6:10 a.m. and 10:12 a.m. flights from Bradley to Atlanta, scheduled on MD-88s, have been canceled today. So has the incoming 9:32 a.m. flight from Atlanta. A flight scheduled for 6 a.m. on an MD-88 from Bradley to Cincinnati went off, although it was more than an hour late.
