The drama of the American Airlines MD80 that landed in Miami after a problem arose with its nose gear was overblown on TV. But it was interesting to see the landing and the way the pilot held the nose off the runway for as long as possible while the plane slowed.
The AP video on this Palm Beach Post story shows it, sort of. I saw more compelling footage on TV, where the whole plane was visible, but I can’t find it online.
Anyway, it looked like an extended wheelie. And it reminded me of why we need highly skilled, experienced pilots flying our jets.
