Pilots On Snooze Control?

The Honolulu Advertiser reports that the FAA is investigating whether two pilots for go! airlines, a subsidiary of Mesa Airlines, fell asleep during a flight from Honolulu to Hilo.

This was scheduled as a 29-minute flight, but it lasted a little longer because the jet flew right past the Hilo airport at 21,000 feet. I’m thinking that there can’t be a lot of good reasons for that, but I’m hoping there are some that don’t include falling asleep.

Because, really, it would be an accomplishment for a passenger to fall asleep that quickly on a 50-seat CRJ. I can’t imagine how the pilots could pull it off.
