If you act really, really fast you should be able to get a great deal on a last-minute cruise to Bermuda and the Bahamas.
The Norwegian Dawn leaves New York on a seven-day trip to Nassau, Great Stirrup Cay and King’s Wharf, Bermuda, on June 16 – yep, that’s next Saturday. As of last night, it was possible to book an inside cabin for $600 per person, including taxes and fees, directly on the Norwegian Web site.
Interestingly enough, this rate is for an ocean-view cabin, not an inside cabin, which is usually cheaper. But when you get this close to the sailing date, prices depend simply on what’s left over. (Balcony cabins were available for about $100 more per person.)
You should know that this fare is for a cabin guarantee, or what is sometimes called "run of the ship." You don’t get to pick your cabin. It will be assigned to you at check-in.
Regardless of all that, this is an unusual deal. Almost any mass-market cruise is a great bargain at less than $100 per person, per day. But finding rates like that to Bermuda, a particularly costly destination, is quite rare.
Prices are running around $1,000 per person for this itinerary through the rest of the summer, and that’s for an inside cabin.
You can look around, but I did not see the $600 rate on any of the cruise agency Web sites.
