If you’re biting your nails waiting for your passport to arrive so that you can fly to Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean or Bermuda, you can relax. You’re getting a temporary reprieve.
Travelers will be able to fly to those places until the end of September if they can show a driver’s license and a receipt for a passport application. The change is expected to help thousands of people whose applications are caught up in a massive backlog caused by changes in the rules about passports and international travel.
Of course, this does nothing for people who need passports to go to other places and whose applications are caught up the same delays. But at least it’s something.
